“Information is power”, is a well-founded saying. Without clear information on issues that concern them, individuals may end up becoming extremely confused and also at risk from being inadvertently given incorrect information which they may act upon in all innocence.
There were some recurring themes from the focus groups when asked to explain their views, wishes and needs around information. Privacy and confidentiality were not always explained in a clear and precise way, and individuals were unsure of how some specific issues were covered in legislation and where professional guidelines might exist. This course is designed so that people may begin to find the information that they require from reputable sources. In addition to the well-known saying at the start of this piece, another one emerged in the discussions held around this topic: “If you think education is expensive- try ignorance!”
We hope that participants will find this course interesting and informative.
